MAT on Feb 1, 2009

Application invited for the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA)/Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Programmes in over 371 Institutes. The test will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 1.2.2009 (Sunday) at over 71 Centres in India and 5 abroad (Full list of Examination centres available at http://www.aima-ind.org/center_list.pdf). Candidates are expected to report at the Test Centre by 9.15 am.

MAT is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers, designed to measure a person’s general aptitude and will consists of 200 questions with 40 questions each from Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian and Global Environment.

Graduation in any discipline from any recognised University or equivalent recognised Degree is the minimum qualification for appearing in MAT. Final year students can also appear provisionally.

Kerala Med. PG Entrance on Feb1, 2009

Application invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to Post Graduate Medical (Degree/ Diploma) Courses in the Medical Colleges in Kerala, for the academic year of 2009-2010. the entrance examination will be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode on 1.2.2009 (Sunday).

The Examination to be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) will consist of two Papers, each of two hours duration with each Paper having 150 Objective Type (Multiple Choice) Questions. Candidate must score 50% marks in the Entrance Examination to be considered for admission, and it is 40% for candidates belonging to SC/ST and SEBC.

Eligibility: Pass in MBBS course from any of the Medical Colleges in Kerala. Applicant should have taken M.B.B.S. Degree from any University in Kerala or from any other University, recognized by the Universities in Kerala as equivalent. Applicant should be an Indian citizen of Kerala origin.

Applicants securing First rank at Class 12 examination of all the Central and State boards in India for the year 2009 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT- 2009 score subject to the general eligibility criteria.

THE TEST BITSAT will be of 3-hours duration, without break. The test consists of four parts with Part I – Physics, Part II – Chemistry, Part III - (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning, Part IV – Mathematics.

All questions will be of objective type (multiple choice questions) with four answers, only one being correct. Each correct answer will get 3 marks, while each incorrect answer will have 1 negative mark. No marks are awarded for questions not attempted. While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer.

There will be 150 questions with 40 from Physics, 40 from Chemistry, 15 from English Proficiency, 10 from Logical Reasoning and 45 from Mathematics. There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 150 questions. If a candidate answers all the 150 questions, without skipping any question, the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; with four questions from each. A candidate, who opts for extra questions, cannot go back for correction of any of the 150 questions answered earlier. At the completion of the test, the computer will announce the result to the candidate in terms of number of total correct answers and wrong answers, with the score. The candidate can also check and print his score report at the BITS website after all the tests are completed. No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year.

BITSAT- 2009 test will be conducted on the basis of NCERT syllabus for 11th and 12th class. The detailed syllabus is available in the Information Brochure. A sample test will be made available to the registered candidates at the BITS website on which he/she can practice as many times as desired.

NIFT admission 2009

The National Institute of Fashion Technology invites applations from students for admission to Bachelor and Master programmes in fashion Design and Fashion Management/Technology.

The Institute is established under the Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India and has centres at Bengaluru (Bangalore), Bhopal, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kannur,Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, Raebareli and Shillong.

MBA in Petroleum Management

COMEDK PGET on Feb 8

The ‘Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka’ (COMEDK) is conducting the Post Graduate Entrance Test 'COMEDK PGET-2009' and Centralised Counseling, for Post Graduate courses in Medical and Dental studies in Private Unaided Medical & Dental Colleges of Karnataka for 2009-10.
COMEDK PGET-2009 will be conducted only at centres in Bangalore on February 8, 2009 (Sunday).
There will be one test for admission to PG Medical and one test for admission to PG Dental Courses. Each test will have 180 multiple-choice questions of three hours duration. The test will begin at 10 am and end at 1pm
The syllabi for the Post Graduate Medical / Dental entrance test are based on the M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. syllabus as prescribed by MCI / DCI, respectively. Details are given in the website of COMEDK.
Applicants must have passed all years of their MBBS/BDS from an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India and must have completed/must be completing their internship by 30.4.2009. The test is open to all the eligible students in the country. There is no age limit for admission to the courses.

Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2009 on May 17

The Union Public Service Commission has invited applications for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2009, the first stage of the process for recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and certain other Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ Central Services/Posts.

The Examination will be held on 17th May, 2009 at various centres across the country.

Applicant should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 30 years of age as on 1st August, 2009. The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the detailed Notice.

Applicant should hold a Degree of a recognized University or an equivalent qualification and must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-III of Rules for the Civil Services Examination, 2009 published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated 6th December, 2008.

The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of applicants who are otherwise eligible are as follows:
(i) General Category - Four(ii) Physically Handicapped Candidates belonging to General Category - Seven(iii) Other Backward Classes - Seven(iv) Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) - No limit.

Medical Courses at BHU

The Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi has announced the admission schedule for MBBS/BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm./B.Pharm(Ayurveda) Courses-2009.
Admission to the MBBS course (63 seats) will be based on a two stage process, the PMT-2009 Screening and PMT-2009 Main. Admission to BDS (28 seats)/BAMS (57 seats) / B. Pharm. (28 seats) and B.Pharm.(Ayurveda) (Paid seats - 30) courses, will be based only on PMT-2009 Screening.
The PMT-2009 Screening will be held on 6th May 2009 (Wednesday) at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres.
The PMT-2009 Main for selection of candidates to the MBBS Course will be held on the 14th June 2009 (Sunday) at Varanasi Centre only.
Applicant should have passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together. AFMC Admission 2009

Application invited for the MBBS course provided by Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune – 411040 [AFMC, Pune]. Admission to the MBBS course will be based on a written examination, to be conducted on May 3, 2009. A total of 130 candidates (including a maximum of 25 girls) will be selected for course. Ten seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates provided they qualify in the written examination and come within the first 500 in the final combined merit list of boys and girls.
Students, who pass out, have compulsory liability to serve as Commissioned Officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services at least for five years. Application form and Prospectus will be available for sale at selected General Post Offices / Head Post Offices of major cities all over the country, from December 22, 2008 to January 28, 2009.
A candidate seeking admission to the MBBS course should be a citizen of India, must be unmarried (Marrying during the course is not permitted), should be medically fit as per prescribed standards by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence and must have attained the age of 17 years on 31st December of the year of application, but must not have attained the age of 22 years on that date (Not more than 24 years in case of candidates who have passed or are appearing in final B Sc examinations). Candidate must have passed all the subjects opted for in the first attempt of the qualifying examinations (Plus Two) as a regular candidate with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken simultaneously with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in these 3 science subjects taken together and not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in each of the science subjects. They must have also passed an examination in Mathematics of the 10th standard.
