Medical Courses at BHU

The Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi has announced the admission schedule for MBBS/BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm./B.Pharm(Ayurveda) Courses-2009.
Admission to the MBBS course (63 seats) will be based on a two stage process, the PMT-2009 Screening and PMT-2009 Main. Admission to BDS (28 seats)/BAMS (57 seats) / B. Pharm. (28 seats) and B.Pharm.(Ayurveda) (Paid seats - 30) courses, will be based only on PMT-2009 Screening.
The PMT-2009 Screening will be held on 6th May 2009 (Wednesday) at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres.
The PMT-2009 Main for selection of candidates to the MBBS Course will be held on the 14th June 2009 (Sunday) at Varanasi Centre only.
Applicant should have passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together. For admission to MBBS/BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm.(Ay.), applicant should have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for General category and 40% for OBC/SC/ST candidates. For admission to B.Pharm course, applicant should have a minimum of 60% marks for General & OBC category and 55% aggregate marks for SC/ST candidates. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.
Minimum and maximum age is 17-25.
The distribution of seats for various courses will be as follows:
M.B.B.S.(63 seats) : General - 42; OBC - 7; SC - 9 and ST – 5.
BDS and B.Pharm. (28 seats each): General - 19; OBC - 3; SC - 4 and ST – 2.
BAMS (57 seats) : General - 36; Foreign National - 3; OBC - 6; SC - 8 and ST – 4.
B.Pharm.(Ay.) (Paid seats, 30): General - 15; OBC - 8; SC - 5 and ST - 2.
Application Form along with the Information Booklet for PMT-2009 can be obtained on payment of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 600/- for SC/ST candidates) from the following Post Offices.

HO, near TV Station; DELHI-(i) Delhi GPO, Connaught Place, Gole Dakghar (ii) New Delhi Head Office, near Kashmiri Gate; LUCKNOW - GPO, Hazaratganj ; KANPUR - HO, Civil Lines, Bara Chauraha, Mal Road; KOLKATA - GPO, Dalhousie Square; HYDERABAD - GPO, Aabidas; NAGPUR - HPO, Civil Lines; MUMBAI- GPO, CST Railway Station; JAIPUR - GPO, near Jaipur Railway Station; RANCHI - GPO, near Shaheed Chowk; CHANDIGARH - GPO, Sector 17; CHENNAI - GPO, near Rajaji Salai; BHOPAL - GPO, Royal Market; PATNA - GPO, near Patna Railway Station.
Application materials can also be obtained from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 by sending a written request to reach there latest by 18th February 2009 (Wednesday), by Registered Post along with Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only) of Rs. 1100/- (Rs. 700/- for SC/ST candidates) of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of ‘The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU’ payable at Varanasi and two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm x 6 cm size.
The request should show the name and address of the candidate and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC with the name and address of candidate written on the back of the DD. The envelope in which the request is sent should be super scribed ‘Request for Application for PMT-2009, BHU’. Separate Bank Draft will be required for each application form.
Application form duly completed must be sent through Registered Post so as to reach ‘The Director (PMT Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005’, latest by 5 pm on 9th March 2009 (Monday).
Foreign Nationals are not required to appear in the PMT examination for MBBS/BAMS course. They may seek admission through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose and their nomination must reach by 16th July 2009 (Thursday).
